La Marque

Hi there! I am Fanny, proud founder of atelier Trousseau!

This is why I created atelier Trousseau.

I might be seen as a typical Zillenial, but I also believe in making the Earth a better place for everyone. I try to take little steps towards that personally and professionally.

atelier Trousseau is 100% run by me, and I make sure that every choice, from organic fabrics
to reusing scraps, is purposeful and meaningful.

Well fitting clothes are really important to me. I could never fit perfectly in the clothes I owned so making my own clothes made me fall back in love with my body.
I used to say that I felt
beautiful, except when I wore clothes. I wanted to change this.

This is why I offer free bespoke services.

atelier Trousseau is a slow-fashion brand that offers colourful, feminine and comfortable clothes, small fashion and home accessories.

Everything is handcrafted by Fanny (the founder) in Brussels. All the products are made with carefully selected second-hand fabrics sourced in Brussels.

The fabrics are colourful and qualitative remnants of the past, and are used entirely from big clothes to scraps to stuff the pillows. They  are chosen with sustainability and quality in mind, with most of them being cotton.

nos principes

sustainability pledge pt.1

rejecting sales

atelier Trousseau doesn’t do sales, black fridays, cyber mondays or anything like this. Here is why:

— a way of aligning with our wish not to produce more than necessary but also to ensure an adequate income.
— the process takes time and there is one person behind, who works long hours and makes everything alone.
— if you return a garment to us for recycling, we will offer you a percentage on your next basket.

sustainability pledge pt.2

choosing fabrics

Each fabric used is bought in a small quantity. I want to use as much fabrics that are already woven. — no new fabrics are made for Trousseau — everything is either organic (GOTS label), recycled polyester or upcycled. — the threads are not yet organic but I am aiming to change that. This is the next goal. — the prints are printed with water-based inks — some fabrics are dyed inhouse with oeko-tex dyes

sustainability pledge pt.3

manufacturing time

To fully meet the quality requirements, I take the time to produce the garments you receive. This is why, unlike the big names in fast-fashion, we have a delivery time that varies from two to seven weeks depending on the product(s) you ordered.

— as everything is made-to-order, I don’t have any stock. Fabrics are ordered once your order is placed

— longest part is to wait for the fabric to get to me

— if you are in a rush, please send me an email before placing your order. I will let you know if I can make it on time!

sustainability pledge pt.4

going zero waste

As of November 2020, no fabric was put in the trash by the brand. From tiny bits to big scraps, everything is kept and stored for further use.

— by avoiding waste, I managed to reduce my trash by half

— scraps are currently used in three types of projects: scrunchies, patchwork bucket hats and stuffings.

— you can learn more about it on the brand’s instagram and tiktok accounts (@ftrousseau)

sustainability pledge pt.5

being local

As an European, I truly believe in being local. There are three level of local: city, country and EU.

— everything is made in Brussels by me, Fanny. If needed, I have other sewist to help me, also in Brussels. All the designing, patterning and cutting is made in the studio in Brussels.

— fabrics come from the European Union, mainly from Germany, the Netherlands and Latvia.
